Default Newbie questions - shared calendar etc.?

I am considering switching from MS Outlook to Zimbra Desktop on my home MS Windows-based network. It would be talking to hMailServer for messages, and I'd like to be able to share calendars and contacts too. The requirements would be very simple, with just two users. Is this something that ZD could handle just with files in a network shared area, or would it have to be fully served?

Shared calendars and contacts are handled by the Zimbra server, so to use anything beyond the Zimbra Desktop with IMAP mail to your hmailserver, you'd need the Zimbra server as well.

That's a shame - I was hoping I could do something simple like create a calendar in a shared folder, or set the location for calendars to be a shared folder etc. Looking at the .conf file though, there's no obvious way to do that for calendars without the whole /store folder being shared too.

Ah well, it was just a thought. Thanks for the reply.

There wasn't a question, it was a spammer.

They pop-up occasionally before we have a chance to nuke them (or the forum software nukes them) and you can usually tell by the links in the post - so, if there's any messages on the forums that have odd messages and links then you can report them or just leave them until we can remove them.
