Another mail program as default application

How to make mailto links to open in another program e-mail instead of ZD 2.0?

I remember the first email received with the MAILTO ZD asked a question to choose which application I wanted, I remember choosing Thuinderbird but did not work. How to have the system repeat the question? Where can I set this up, besides the item preferences tab?

Already uncheck the option to use as the default e-mail preferences.
Already reinstalled Thunderbird, and I configured it as the default program
I've already set the IE and Firefox to use Thunderbird as the default program for e-mails.
