    Smile Please test my workaround

    Hi,

    I have recently posted a workaround here:

    [SOLVED] Zimbra Desktop 2

    that I think solves in an elegant manner the "Could not read override.ini" error.

    If you are trying my hack in the same machine as the one that had this error you should do step 2 (registry delete) and step 3 (Data program delete) compulsory.

    After finding that my hack does work I would be very pleased that you report your experience (including Windows version and language) at the bug:
    https://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=44608
    so that Zimbra developers can actually check if it is working or not and hopefully decide to include it in the next Zimbra Desktop release with maybe some release notes about step 2 (registry delete) and step 3 (Data program delete) being compulsory in some situations.

    Thank you very much for your attention!

    There is a solution in the post immediately above yours, try that.

    I'm already tried that with no success.
    I did exactally the steps but still give the same error.
    You can see above a part of my zdrun file .

    sVersion="2.0.1 build 10659"
    aUserDirs = Array("index", "store", "sqlite", "log", "zimlets-properties", "zimlets-deployed")
    aUserFiles = Array("conf\keystore", "profile\prefs.js", "profile\persdict.dat", "profile\localstore.json")
    sScriptPath = WScript.ScriptFullName
    sScriptDir = Left(sScriptPath, InStrRev(sScriptPath, WScript.ScriptName) - 2)
    sAppRoot = oFso.GetParentFolderName(sScriptDir)
    sLocalAppDir = (oFso.GetFolder(oShellApp.Namespace(&H1c&).Self.Pa th)).ShortPath
    sDataRoot = GetDataRoot()
    sVerFile = sDataRoot & "\conf\version"
    sTmpDir = sDataRoot & ".tmp"
    sRestoreDir = sDataRoot & ".rst"
    sOverridePath = sDataRoot & "\zdesktop.webapp\override.ini"
    bIsUpgrade = false

    The zds file seems to be correct.
    Some ideas:

    • Please double-check the location where you have to edit zdrun.vbs file.
    • Run step 2 (registry delete) and step 3 (Data program delete) again.
    • Be sure to delete your profile folder. Maybe are you deleting zimbra profile inside Username instead of Username.YOURDOM?

    And finally there could be a problem with my patch if the:
    Code:
    Archivos de programa
    portuguese equivalent has non-ascii characters.

    Can we discard it?

    Thank you for your feedback.

    Great great great!
    I was uninstalling and installing again without registry deleting (step 2)
    After that it works.
    Perfect. Thank you very much for your attention!

    Default "Couldn't read override.ini"

    I'm almost deaf and dumb with computers, but I've got the same problem!
    Please explain as simple as possible so I can understand.
    Besides, I'm brazilian and I learned English during my stay in NYC in 1945/1950 (5 years old until 10 years old)!
    Thanks for any help I can get to install my brand new Zimbra e-mail.
    override.ini is my problem!

    Angry Couldn't Read Override.ini

    I Have installed zdesktop_7_0_1_b10791_win32, and Im having the same problem.

    Note: At the company I'm working we are using Thin Client X550, so this problem is happening in one of the stations, which would be the Server, the Clients do not receive the error!
    - Is this problem is related to the User Profile?

    OS: Windows XP3, Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM

    I bet you already tried to install ZD2 in that machine without success in the past.
    Please check:

    I think it also applies to you.

    Smile I 'HAD' the same problem, but no more.

    This probably will not apply to most if any. But after doing a re install and having this issue I figured out (after much wasted time and frustration) that the anti-virus and firewall program 'BitDefender' was directly related to my troubles,.. it wasn't good enough for me to disable antivirus, firewall and malware protection, I literally had to completely uninstall the program bit defender, also uninstalling Zimbra but without re installing BitDefender I re installed Zimbra,.. all was well as though it should be and I lived happily ever after.
    I hope this helps someone else other then just me.
