dear all,
starting to test the ZDC on a Zimbra server...
after downloading and reading the emails, accessing the the server on the web-client, the emails show as unread,
is this normal, can I configure that downloaded means "read" ?
thanks,

Yes, it's normal. What you're seeing is the status of the messages on the server - it's what you would see if you opened the ZCS Web UI (or whatever server you're connected to).
No. you can't for the reason stated above. It's meant to 'synchronise' with the server it's connected to i.e. reflect the current state of your mailbox on the server.

thanks for the clear answer,
so we have a problem, our users are accustomed to the POP-way, i.e. the email is deleted on the server when downloaded,
is there any workaround to seeing that an email is already downloaded, or avoiding it to see it altogether?
thanks,
Is there any problem caused by leaving the mail on the server? Are you testing the NE or Open Source version? IMO, it's better that the server admin is responsible for implementing a good backup strategy for the email rather than leaving it to users.
ZD is designed to work just like the web UI (it is, in fact, based on the current ZCS code), you could use ZD as a pop3 or IMAP client to your server but you'd lose the benefits that it has connecting to Zimbra. If your user are going to use the Web UI they'll find that ZD is identical to use and has the same feature set, does that integration not appeal to them?
