and this error w/ ssl checked (port 443)

Welcome to the forums,

So the 1st issue your hitting is Bug 46127 - ZD1.0 can't sync versions after ZCS 6.0.6 (if default COS or fresh ZCS)

If you're a user change the settings for reply/forward via your preferences tab.
If you're the server admin you can fix it for an entire COS:
Code:
zmprov mc default zimbraPrefForwardIncludeOriginalText includeBody
zmprov mc defualt zimbraPrefReplyIncludeOriginalText includeBody
Besides a firewall, the 2nd issue may be due to the fact that you don't have https enabled, see: CLI zmtlsctl to set Web Server Mode - Zimbra :: Wiki

Bug 41448 - default both http & https for web-client

I am the admin
what file would that code be stored in?

as a user where is the "reply/forward" under the preferences tab?

thanks again

If you mean the 'code snippet' posted in the reply by mmorse then it's not in a file, it's using the zmprov command run on the Zimbra server as the Zimbra user - check the Admin Guide for details (or the wiki).

Default

the first code snippet has a typo on the second line

the COS is listed as defualt, not default

try this

Code:
zmprov mc default zimbraPrefReplyIncludeOriginalText includeBody
-zebo
