Default GMail Calendar Sync

I'm trying to set up a Calendar to sync with my Gmail Calendar on Desktop Beta 2 and it requests a URL.

In v1 all I had to do was put in my email addresss and the calendar sync worked.

Please advisse what url or url format to use in beta 2

Many thanks

Are you doing this under the 'Add Account" process?

There is a "Synchronize All Calendars" checkbox when you add a GMail account, and that should do it.

I'm trying to wean myself off Windows so chose Zimbra as a means to migrate to a multi-platform mail client that works in Ubuntu. I have installed Zimbra Desktop on Windows XP, Windows 7 and Ubuntu 11.04. I had already moved my 4Gb of Outlook data onto Gmail (Google Apps for Business) so Zimbra seemed easy. You add an account and tick the boxes to also synchronise the calendar and contacts.

In Windows you receive Calendar entries but no modifications or additions are synchronised back to Gmail. You receive Contacts but only the name, phone number and e-mail. All address information is missing. Also at the top of the contacts list are a few dozen people called <No Name>. This is because this list is by surname. If I could find an option to set my preferred listing by first name then all those people whose surnames I don't know would show up.

In Ubuntu the contacts situation is the same but there is no calendar at all for my e-mail address and the default local folders calendar is of course empty. So I got a slightly better result than some but at present Zimbra is nowhere near an Outlook replacement for Linux. Any ideas if I've missed something?

This is for case of Google -> Zimbra sychronizaction.

Log to google calendar.

Click to Settings in left menu under the My calendars.

Click on the calendar name (propably your login email address).

There are two sections with URL links by icons XML, ICAL, HTML (at the end of page).

You should setup calendar as public in next tab (Share this calendar).

You should use ICAL url .....[email]/public/basic.ics

If you can read that url, google is successfully prepared for share calendar with other client like zimbra.

Copy .ics url and add new calendar with this url.

You cannot use only private (freebusy) URL, because zimbra don't support it (calendar will be empty).
