Default Sync ZD2 beta with Blackberry

How do I sync my Blackberry Bold 9000 with Zimbra Desktop?

When I go into the Blackberry's Synchronization manager, I can see the Yahoo option along with Outlook but no option to sync with Zimbra Desktop.

I've looked around and there doesn't seem to be much info on this.

thx
G

You don't.

Zimbra Desktop is an offline client for getting your email from an external mail server and not a server for synchronising it with other clients

Default I don't get it

Zimbra desktop is an email client so why can't it be made to sync with my Blackberry the way that Outlook does? This should be a given.

If that's the case then ZD is a waste of time for a huge number of people including myself who use Blackberry since the Blackberry can't sync directly with Zimbra server. And since I'm not willing to invest in BES ZD out of the question.

What a waste of time and this also means I have to steer any of my Zimbra groupware clients away from ZD.

This should be the TOP FAQ in the Wiki.

Outlook only syncs with your blackberry (as far as I've seen anyway) with the sync software from RIM. Out of the box, Outlook doesn't directly support syncing with your bb. If RIM would include ZD as one of its options for syncing then it would work. Bottom line is that it's not a Zimbra issue, it's RIM for not supporting Zimbra Desktop.

Default thanks

Thanks for the answer.

Now I know why it doesn't work though it's odd that Yahoo shows up in BBs list of applications it can connect to.

Default You can sync your bb with ZCS

You can sync your blackberry with Zimbra Collab Server over the air. I have my email and calendar working with my curve and it works fine. I just set it up as an email account and it worked without a hitch. I don't remember the specifics but if all you are looking to do is sync your Zimbra email with your blackberry, you don't need Zimbra Desktop to do that.

Default Thanks!

I'm new to Zimbra admin and I thought you couldn't sync with Blackberry - that you need to run a BES server.

I tried it and it works perfectly!

Many thanks
Glenn

Default Actually no

After setting up the email account and playing around with it I realized that the contacts and calendar were from the previous sync when I was using Outlook.

I got a little overexcited thinking it actually worked.

So apparently there is no way to sync a blackberry over the air with ZD2?

Default same problem

SageLink,
I have the same problem.
Now Blackberry offer BESX (express free version) but I don`t understand yet if its can work with Zimbra Open Source because if we need ZCS it`s expensive!
You can try with funambol, but it`s not the same.
I hope and waiting that Zimbra offer the Zimbra Connector for BlackBerry in Zimbra Open Source Edition ;-)
Bye,
