Default Option to save or not save messages being sent

I would like a third option in Preferences under mail> composition:

"Prompt when sending> Save/ Don't save in sent folder"

    The present options are:
    Save sent messages and
    Don't save sent messages.

I know i could keep the second : "don't save sent messages" and cc to myself messages I want to save. But 1) I may forget, 2)it isn't as smooth, 3)It gets saved in your inbox, probably as a new message (adding to the unread message count).

What do others think about this suggestion? I hope its easy to implement.

If you wish to see any changes in Zimbra product then you should file an RFE in Bugzilla Main Page - Zimbra (and vote on it).

Thanks Phoenix. I thought bugzilla was for bugs, but I looked in, and found such a feature requested in 2007, with one vote. Added mine to make it two. I guess that won't count for much now. For anyone else who wants to vote, the bug is at

No it's for product enhancements as well, it means the developers will get to see and request and ask for clarification (if needed). You'll be notified of updates to that bug and for details of which future releas it's targetted you should also keep an eye on the Product Portal.

Default save/dont save in sent folder

this feature is there in IBM lotus notes.

This is a great feature. You send a lot of mails for inputs/info for others. we can decide not to save them.
For every mail - it will pop up this option and you can choose no(if you want).

No email client has this. Outlook has this - but when configured with gmail, the smtp server will anyway save it in the gmail sent folder.

seems tobe a technical issue, atleast when configured with internet mail servers..

Many would use this, if provided...
