Does the mail server require an SSL connection? What happens if you try an IMAP connection? What type of mail server is this?

I've asked you some other questions, please answer them. When I asked what type of mail server I meant is it gmail, yahoo, postfix, AOL or what?

I have the same problem. I am setting up an IMAP account that does not use SSL. All servers and ports have been verified by our IT staff and are correct. Is there something I may be missing?

How about answering the questions in post #4? Can you actually telnet to the server and on the correct port and get a response (please post the output for confirmation)?

I am having the same problem.

I have set all of my information up to match what I have in my functioning Thunderbird install on the same machine.

The only difference is that the outgoing mail server here uses TLS, not SSL and does not support unsecured connections.

Whether or not I check SSL in the outgoing mail section, I get the same error as the original poster. Even when I try to use my (external, tested working) smtp server without security, I get the same SSL error message.

I cannot get past this screen at all. If I remove my SMTP info, it tells me I have to fill something in. If I fill it in, I get an ssl error.

Unfortunately, the error does not give an indication regarding which mail server it can't connect to, so troubleshooting is difficult - is it the incoming or the outgoing that is choking zimbra? Can't tell because it doesn't tell me!

My incoming server is imap, and I have used the exact settings that are working in my thunderbird install.
