Options don't appear to be being saved

I've noticed a couple of odd things.

1. Email messages are no longer displaying in HTML even though I've got the options changed to this and have checked to confirm they are saved.

2. Removing columns from the email list view (for instance, if i remove the attachment column) the changes are not saved and revert every time i restart the application.

Help?
