Send/receive button is clearing my inbox

Hello
Every time I have hit the send/receive button, everything in my inbox disappears permanently. I'm not a zimbra whiz but this doesn't seem like a very useful feature. How can I recover the emails that were in my inbox? Is this what the send/receive button is supposed to do?

Can you provide some more details? I'm assuming from send/receive button you're using Outlook. What version of Outlook? And if possible, please provide the version of Zimbra running as well.
