Memory Bloat
OK, I thought Outlook was bad with it taking up 50-80 megs of RAM, but ZDesktop is even worse.
zdesktop.exe = 129,689 K
zdclient.exe = 46,952 K
OUTLOOK.EXE = 69,332 K
That's outlook with the Zimbra connector and both clean after a fresh restart. Both just opened, only displaying the inbox. No new downloads of mail.
Now how I am I supposed to put that out on our workstations which only have 512mb RAM? I'd like to, but that is a bit obscene. I know all about the same code, server running behind the GUI, and what not. Realistically, will this bloat be reduced in the future?
Why not build a client rather than building a webserver?
