Default [SOLVED] Incoming Mail Server

I'm trying to set up the Zimbra desktop client, and while setting up my account I'm asked for the incoming mail server. I must be pretty dense because I have no idea what that is.

If someone could help it would be very appreciated!

You've posted this in the wrong forum, it was in Zimbra Collaboration Suite and I'll move it to the correct forum.

The incoming mail server is the same as you would set-up in any mail client i.e. the server that you are going to get your mail from.

No, it doesn't.

Have you ever used a mail client to send and receive email? Where is your mail server or mail account, do you actually have an email account anywhere? If you don't know the address of your mail server I'd suggest you look at the help pages of the site that provides your mail account - we won't know what that is.

My account is through Zimbra (has been for a year), I just have no idea what 'incoming mail server' means.

I just read that in the 'incoming mail server' field I would put mail. domainname . com. I don't know why no one could just tell me that, unless you guys like being cryptic. Can't say I'll recommend Zimbra after this.

Your account is through which Zimbra server? Who provides the service?

How is me having already given you the information being cryptic? I'll repeat it for your benefit, it's the address of the mail server that you get your mail from.

"the address of the mail server that you get your mail from" did not make sense to me either and does sound cryptic to someone who isn't computer savvy like me.

Thank you ninedosus for figuring out this problem your description of what to put in the "incoming mail server" really helped me understand!!

Default Non savvy user

Phoenix,

ninedosus has a very simple question, being unable to think in 0 and 1.
I think I can help: if the e-mail is | ninedosus@yahoo.co.uk | then Incoming Mail Server should be: ninedosus@yahoo.co.uk .... Problem solved?

Default What kind of an answer is that from a support guy?

I'm sorry, but I must completly agree with the user. No true solution was given by the zimbra guy, which by the way is indeed being cryptic.
If it wasn't for the user actually posting that "mail.domainname.ext being ext anything such as .com .info. .org or whatever, I would never have been able to actually know how to resolve this issue.

the "support guy" never gaves an extraight nor useful answer. This way, it would seems He's trying to hide the fact he has no answer. Add to this that, the way he wrote what I quote from his answer, he seems to try to make the user feel ignorant.

I'm sure that was not the purposed intention. Next time, I would suggest straight answer must be given. Thanks.
