| | An RFE I might make, instead, would be a Zimbra plugin for TB. And, I suppose I need to get management to finally commit to the Network version to get the Outlook groupware functions.

| | | I have other problems with ZD, related to backing up data stored in the "offline folder". But I've been told that those concerns will be dealt with in a planned update. I think you should file an RFE for your issue with ZD.
As for TB, I'm not sure how necessary it will be to develop a plugin. It would mainly be for synching contacts with Zimbra, right? I think some of the methods at Sharing address books - MozillaZine Knowledge Base might work for this. Note especially Zindus; I think it's been discussed on the forum here and has been updated to support Zimbra. Furthermore I think GnR is supposed to include CardDAV support, which may work with some more of the options on that page. |

| | I don't suppose a ZD update will coincide with the 6.0 release?
Yes, contacts would be nice in TB. Calendars sort of work with Lightning, but they're flaky (which I attribute to Lightning). I installed and set up Zindus, then did a sync. It seems to work a treat. Thanks. I don't know how I missed that one. I need to troll the forums more often. |

| | Totally agree with LaFong. ZD should behave like TB, download only headers of messages of the inbox, then if you click on a message, download it and then keep it in the local cache. Same thing for the other mail folders. And in TB, if you still want to keep your entire mailbox cached, there's an option for it. Much better in my opinion anyway.
This is the single only reason preventing me from using ZD. I don't need/want to keep my whole 5 GB mailbox locally, nor do I want to wait the initial caching of all messages. |

There are times that i need to login to my yahoo account for some reasons | What does "turn offline" have to do with logging into your Yahoo! account? There is no reason you can't login to your Yahoo! account while using the Zimbra Desktop.

But i noticed that the yahoo is giving some errors if i open it at the same time. So i was thinking to turn it off while i check from yahoo acount without exiting the zimbra so i can still access all the emails from zimbra.
Is there a way to do it? |

| | FYI, the default behavior of TB3 is now for Offline use. Imagine the disappointment when my trusty TB started downloading 8GB of mail automatically after install, just like ZD. You have to turn it off in the account settings _and_ find an obscure setting in order to disable indexing. It attempts to index server folders even when not set for Offline use, which also takes forever. Talk about a step backward. This may have been a good idea 5+ years ago, but with today's internet speed and ubiquity it's more of an annoyance. The only reason to do this is for when you will soon be in a place with no/slow internet access, principally airplanes. There should also be an easy way to switch between Offline and Online settings too, but TB3's is clumsy at best. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | Why Join?
