Exporting local folder in yahoo zimbra desktop

Hi,

I have recently setup ZCS Open Source and found out that it lacks the function of backup and archiving. Soon I've learned that there is what they called ZAD module which is only included in the paid edition (i.e. Network Edition). So in order to address the requirement of mail archiving, I've turned to YZD. It has a feature called Import/Export. It works fine but when I try to export a local folder it doesn't work. I've also noticed that the local folder only resides on the computer where YZD is installed and is not sync with the ZCS server.

I want to export the local folder as well. I'm using the following:

ZCS 5.0 Open Source for Ubuntu 8.04 server
YZD v1.0 build 1482 client

Could you help? Is there any step I need to do or I lack something.

Question: Will Local folders import back to Zimbra email accounts? If I have a user archive mail locally, will I later be able to import those emails (some or all) back into an account?

Wish there were a way to archive with the browser based mail.

Sure. I want to force users to "archive" their mail into the Local folders in YZD if their account reaches a predetermined size (500mb). But I want them to be able to import certain mail back into their account for access through the web login or mobile access if their account is below the limit. Also, this helps when a user leaves the company and there is important mail in the local folders needed for a new associate. Hope this helps, thanks.

You can already do all of that today, except it won't be automatic.

You can right-click on any folder and turn the sync off, making that folder stop sync with server. Any message you move into a folder after its sync is turned off will only stay in local mailbox.

If you later on turn the sync on for that folder, the messages that don't exist on the server will be pushed up.

Actually I was talking about sync with ymail/gmail or any IMAP server.

For ZCS sync, you have something called "Local Folders". Anything you move under there will be removed from server; anything you move from there to anywhere else will be pushed back to server.
