Does anyone else get annoyed that links don't open in default browser?

Well only links to http://hostname.domain/etc open in the default browser. Links like http://hostname/etc don't.

Surely it's not a strange thing particularly inside companies to have short urls?

I have to copy and paste most URLs my emails into my browser.

There is a bug open for this but Bugzilla is still pondering my search at the moment.
