Default Desktop Client and open source ZCS interaction

Hi There,

I've searched and can't find a solution to this so here goes.

I've just set up the latest open source ZCS under Ubuntu Server 8.04 and all works swimmingly in its web interface.

I've tried the desktop client in Windows, Mac and Linux and get the same problem in all three, notably - Mail sync errors and no mail appearing on the desktop client and when I try to share calendars with others from the desktop client the URL at the bottom of the share window starts http://localhost:7633/home/ (rather than https://blah.foo.xx.ac.uk:443/home/) as in the web client.

I'm guessing that there is some configuration on the server that is telling the desktop client that it should use localhost instead of the server but I can't find it.

Anyone help??

Thanks
Jon

hi, please first read http://wiki.zimbra.com/index.php?tit...ra_Desktop_FAQ which explains where there's localhost access.

also please follow the FAQ regarding how to provide the log for analysis. thanks!

Thanks for the reply.

I've had a look at the FAQ and the sections on localhost access don't seem really to help.

I don't want users to be sharing a calendar on their local machine but on the server we have running ZCS - I suppose what I'm saying is that I don't think that the desktop client should be looking for a backend server on the local machine but looking at the ZCS server I have set up.

Am I missing something? Or more likely just not understanding the way things work?

The message sync errors I get are as follows

Product name: Zimbra Desktop
Product version: 0.92

OS Platform: Windows XP x86 5.1

Hmm, this doesn't look right. What ZCS server version are you using?

If the server is 5.0.11 then I don't know why this happens. From the code it looks like the server is returning incorrect data. Please file a bug first.
