Default German Dictionary

Hello everyone,

I would like to add the german dictionary addon to prism. In former versions I just started the "prism.exe" and created a new shortcut to the mozilla pages to install the additional dictionary this way. Unfortunately Prism does not create any further shortcuts so I am not able to install any addons.

Did anyone successfully install any other dictionaries yet? Thanks for your help!

Not sure what do you mean, specifically:
1) which former version (zdesktop build number)?
2) from where you got the Mozilla dictionary for de?

Also, could you switch dictionaries between en-US and de easily with "former versions"? Or you were just only using one dictionary (German) the whole time?

We have solutions on supporting non en-US dictionaries. But we are trying to gather more feedback and decide how and to what extent we are going to support this.

Thanks.

We just posted an instruction on how to install other dictionaries we support. We may try to make the installation easier in the future (like how you would do it on FF), but for now, it requires a few manual steps.

This instruction changed the language of my Zimbra Desktop interface to Dutch.
It didn't give me the Dutch spell checker.

I assume you still need en-US for the interface but only Dutch for spell checker?

After unzipping, you should see these files under "dictionaries" directory (including the en-us dictionary comes with installer):

en-US.aff
en-US.dic
nl.aff
nl.dic

And your user.js should look like this:

user_pref("intl.accept_languages", "en-US");
user_pref("general.useragent.locale", "en-US");
user_pref("spellchecker.dictionary", "nl");

Are these what you had?

Default 2 dictionaries for spell checking

Hi there,
is it possible to have two dictionaries for spell checking?

I have this but in this case it uses only "de" (German) as language.

user_pref("spellchecker.dictionary", "en-US");
user_pref("spellchecker.dictionary", "en-GB");
user_pref("spellchecker.dictionary", "de");

I am using ZD build 10580.

Thanks

Tom

yes, that would be very fine and that's what i miss too.

We also have a web based groupware solution pimped with prism as
a site specific browser to deliver/bring some more desktop like features
to our users.

There we support multipe dictionaries/languages to do spell-checking.
On context menu you can do spell-checking and switching the dictionary
you want to use. (out of the installed ones, one is the prefered/default one)

That will be a good and usefull enhancement for ZD too

Regards...
