Question mails slip through filter

hi,
i observed couple of mails slipped through the expected filter and landed in the next filter location, even though it works for almost all other mails.

and also, if we can have a facility in the 'context menu' (right click) to show the list of filters the mail has gone through, to vindicate why a mail is present in that folder, it would be wonderful for people like me who work in a filter-intensive environment.

should i have to open a filter request? and what about the above "slip"?

Without seeing a list of the filters (you can list them with zmprov ga name@domain.com) and the headers from one of the emails that pass through the filter rather than get caught, it's impossible to give you any reason.

I was assuming you were connecting to a ZImbra server, is that not the case? Anyway, the zmprov command is only for a ZCS server. We'd still need to see some mail headers and a description of what you think the filters are supposed to do.

i am observing this multiple times and wanted to highlight issue again:

i use zdesktop 0.92 build 1433.

i have some filters defined, all active. problem happens only with few mails, so i am pretty sure my filters are properly defined. but then i see couple of mails slipping through these filters and land ''''exactly'''' in two locations:

01. the destination folder of the next filter;
OR
02. the folder just below the defined destination folder.

i can't confirm which goes where, but this is the pattern.

it would be great, If there is a way to find out why a mail landed in a particular folder only.

i think most of my logs would contain confidential info for corporate reasons, but if some one guides me, i want to see this issue resolved.

balusss, would you please answer the question from jjzhuang as to whether you are using Zimbra Desktop with a Zimbra email account or with another type of mail server ?

i am using zdesktop to access my yahoo/gmail accouints and my corporate account too which runs an outlook server. i observe the problem only with the corporate account, which has multiple filters. we receive mission critical emails and if it lands in a wrong place, it alters the response time and i would face the wrath.

just now my s/w has upgraded itself to v1.0 build 1482.
can u help me give you the technical information you want, in case the description i have given doesn't suffice.

We need to see the rules in question and the headers of the email. If they do contain sensitive commercial information then sanitize them before posting, though please try and keep the content as accurate as possible.

Just as a quick thought, would the filter be case sensitive? It might be seeing "Mail@mail.com" different than "mail@mail.com" and slip through the "correct" filter and hit the next one.
