LDAP directory access

We are using Zimbra server for email on campus. Now I want Zimbra desktop to do LDAP access on the server. How do i go about it. Any help is appreciated

By "LDAP access" do you mean GAL (global address listing)?

No, I mean the directory maintained by my campus zimbra email server

why do you need to access that? first of all almost no server will expose their LDAP interface to their users. secondly, what is your use case?

May be I did not word the question correctly. I apologize for that. What I intend to do (similar to what I had done in thunderbird) is when I compose an email, I should be able to query by last or first name in the TO: field to find out the email ID of a person on campus.

well, that's exactly GAL (global address listing). that feature is coming.

I would also like to know how soon. Next beta release ?
Personally, thats the only thing stopping me from completely replacing Outlook/Thunderbird.
