    Default [SOLVED] multiple messages viewable at once

    Zimbra looks to have really promising potential with proper email synchronization (the only thing I miss from Notes) in a relatively sensible client. However, it seems to have one stumbling block that makes it unusable for me at the moment.

    I hope I'm wrong here, but there doesn't seem to be any way of having multiple messages open at once. You can't even read one message while writing another, let alone write several messages at once.

    I'm not too worried whether multiple messages (reading or writing) are shown in tabs [as in online yahoo mail client] or multiple windows [as in Thunderbird].

    I hope someone can just tell me I am missing a feature that is there. I can't see any other posts on this issue, am I alone in wanting it?

    On the toolbar, there's a little multi-window icon between the tag dropdown and the view dropdown. Click it and it'll display the current message in a separate window. There's a similar icon in the compose view toolbar.

    Thankyou. Just what I needed.

    Is there a keyboard shortcut? Zimbra Web Client Keyboard Shortcuts - Zimbra :: Wiki mentions alt-W for mail compose, but it doesn't seem to do anything, and it isn't mentioned for mail viewing.

    I agree with a comment I saw elsewhere that all the tooltips should show the shortcuts.

    Anyway, thanks again

    Try shift+c if you want to compose a new one - we recently changed it to ctrl+w from alt+w on accident/in an effort to simplify.

    Bug 30396 - open in new window shortcut closes client

    win/linux - FF/Safari/IE/Prism ctrl+w closes the window

    compose.NewWindow.display = Ctrl+W

    Used to be:
    compose.NewWindow = Alt+W
    compose.NewWindow.mac = Ctrl+W

    BRANCH/ZimbraWebClient/WebRoot/keys/ZmKeys.properties

    This happened while fixing bug 28843 & bug 25953

    Composing in a new is:
    global.NewMessageWindow.display = Shift+C
    Which is fine, but still no easy way to open existing in new window via shortcuts.

    User workaround is to click the button to 'launch in separate window' OR change preferences > mail > 'double click opens in new window'

    If you're an admin you can change the: /opt/zimbra/mailboxd/webapps/zimbra/WEB-INF/classes/keys/ZmKeys.properties

    Thanks for the helpful comments. I appreciate this is still beta .......
    It would be good to have a consistent convention for new window.
    For example (I haven't checked it these conflict with any existing shortcuts)

    Shift+R = reply in new window
    Shift+A = reply all in new window
    Shift+C = compose in new window (as you have)
    Shift+W (Shift+V?) = view in new window

    and with 9585
    Alt+R = reply in new tab
    Alt+A = reply all in new tab
    Alt+C = compose in new tab
    Alt+W (Alt+V?) = view in new tab
