Unhappy Instant Messaging

I was under the impression that Zimbra desktop had IM, but after installing, I don't find it. Was it removed, was it ever an option?

Welcome to the forums,

Sorry it never has, we're you trying out our hosted demo by chance and thought it would be same as the offline client? Let me know if it was a blog/news article out there somewhere.

The requests for enhancement:
Bug 27076 -offline - show chat folder (will probably happen first)
Bug 30250 - offline : Instant Messaging RFE
Be sure to vote for them!

Default Weird

That's the weird thing - when I go into my Zimbra account with the web client, there is an option for IM (Beta) but if I use Zimbra Desktop or anybody else's account using either, that option isn't there. On mine I can add buddies, invite buddies, etc.

We simply haven't ported it to the desktop client yet.

But what I mean is on the web client, I see the option with my account but none of the users' accounts here can. It is turned on in the COS area, and we are only using one COS (default).

Is the feature enabled for the individual user accounts?

Default Yes

It is enabled for each user individually, as well as in the default Class of Service.

Default did you get your answer?

I found that if the resolution is not set to at least 1024X768 the IM feature doesnt show. Many of our teachers have older small monitors and were set to 800X600.... No IM. After changing them to 1024X768 it appears.

5.0.6 - 5.0.8 you can use the methods listed in Bug 28471 - option to disable redirect to lite client for 800x600 screens to workaround the redirect implemented by Bug 27521 - Redirect to lite client for 800x600 screens

5.0.9+ use:
zmprov mc COSName zimbraPrefAdvancedClientEnforceMinDisplay FALSE
or
zmprov ma user@domain.com zimbraPrefAdvancedClientEnforceMinDisplay FALSE
