beta3 imap changes not committed

Sorry for the crosspost, but i posted this in the wrong forum section before.

Hi,

in the desktop beta3 (possible earlier versions too, not testen until now) the changes i make in an imap account are not commited on te server. When i tail the zd logs i see no changes being synchronised when for example i delete an email in my inbox. When i press the get new mail button, i am presented with the exact same mail i just deleted.

When i create new folders, they do not get created on the imap server ...

Any thoughts on this ?

this could be just that you are seeing a side effect of optimization. we don't keep the two sides constantly in sync due to high cost of IMAP sync. can you describe what exactly you are seeing that doesn't meet your expectation?

What is see is this. When i enter the imap account in the zdesktop , en move some mail to subfolders, or delete some mail everything is perfect in the zdesktop. But when i open the outlook client on my windows desktop the changes i made are not visable. For example the mails i sorted in the subfolders are still in the inbox, as well as mails i deleted.
To make sure it wasn't a issue with replication time i let the zdesktop sit there for about half an hour , but still nothing changed on the imap server (non zimbra) . Pressing the new mail icon did nothing except retrieve new mail, and, this surprised me, retrieve the mail i just deleted in the zdesktop.

I have this imap account as second account. My first account is the zimbra, and the imap is the second account in the zdesktop.

Tailing the mailbox log file did not give me any clues..

Any thought on this, or do you need more info (log files etc) ?

I'm running the beta3 on ubuntu 8.04.

In addition to this problem, I applied the single file patch in hope it would solve something, but no go unfortunately.

I've got some log information where i can see ZD tries deleting stuff, but then it's still there.

What can i do to help you guys figure out this problem ? I've enabled the debug trace in the account setup, and i hope i can find some relevant log information on this.

Perhaps , this is just a gues , is that there is some incompatibility in the imap protocoll ? ZD could use some commands that are not correctly implemented on the IMAP server i try to talk to , or the other way around ?

Please let me know what the next step would be. System access also possible by use of reverse ssh tunnel.

the single file patch's purpose is not to solve your problem since we don't even know what your problem is it's to allow you enable debug trace.

the trace goes into <install>/log/zdesktop.out. it doesn't have any sensitive information like password or message content. please send us the trace.

thank you for your super fast reply.

Here is my zdesktop.out file. For example, i deleted everything in the folder with the name "ongewenste e-mail" . The when in see in the mailbox.log file it has preformed the deletions on the server as it seems i press the receive mail button. Then the folder named "ongewenste e-mail" is populated again.

If you need any more info, please let me know, or if i can test some stuff.

Mayk, it looks like we also need your mailbox.log for the same time period. Could you file a bug and attach both zdsektop.out and mailbox.log? You can mark the attachments as private so only zimbra employees can read them. Thanks!
