Default Zimbra Desktop Source

Hello Everyone,

I am in need of Zimbra Desktop source code, but unable to get it from a valid location. I tried out sourceforge, but I worry that the code is for Zimbra Collaboration Suite. Can anyone of you point me to the link wherein I can get the Zimbra Desktop code?

Also, can anyone throw some light on whether there is any difference between the Zimbra Collaboration Suite and Zimbra Desktop codes? Because, right now I am totally confused about the source codes available on internet.

Thanks in advance,
Sujit

Welcome to the forums,

The sourceforge site is no longer in use as of 4.5.7, we've switched to a perforce repository.

Connection directions to get the source are listed in Building Zimbra using Perforce - Zimbra :: Wiki > Franklin README - Zimbra :: Wiki
(Then you need to look at //depot/zcs/FRANKLIN/ZimbraOffline/ - the FRANKLIN branch is currently 5.0.5/.6)

Zimbra Desktop is a browser based offline-capable client.
-It can be used against a Zimbra server (best experience!) or with any other IMAP/POP service (it also included defaults for connecting to ymail, gmail, aol, etc).

The Zimbra Collaboration Suite refers to the server & web-client combo, available in open source and network editions with more features - you can compare here: /products/product_editions.html

That's some pretty big differences you'll need to understand - are you sure you don't want to get started with a pre-compiled binary first?

I have top second num3rouno,

it is virtually impossible to find up-to-date desktop source code.

Where is it?

Thanks

num3rouno, sorry if the ZD vs ZCS description was too basic but I can't assume on your first post For ZD, ZCS code is used quite a bit, but there's also a lot of things substituted where more applicable to a desktop situation (one example would be Apache Derby).

I would suggest viewing //depot/zcs/FRANKLIN/ZimbraOffline/build.xml as it's a good to glance through so you understand what's going on.

Building Zimbra using Perforce - Zimbra :: Wiki > Franklin README - Zimbra :: Wiki
Zimbra Desktop wiki sections:
Building on Linux - Zimbra :: Wiki
Building on Macintosh (OS 10.4.6+) - Zimbra :: Wiki
Building on Windows (win32) - Zimbra :: Wiki

interways, I'm not sure what you're saying, I'm currently looking at the the public perforce cache (codes.zimbra.com:2666) //depot/zcs/mainOrFRANKLIN/ZimbraOffline/jetty-ant.xml which was updated on 2008/05/20 (today)
-That's hourly updates by the way.

OK, got it. Thanks.

Can you tell me, how can I build a windows or mac installer and build a customized self-installing desktop application?

I want to customize zd and give a ready-to-install customized version to the users.

Thanks

Chris

Well, right now you can only build the dev version.

The production version which builds the installer and everything can't be made available to users because install4j, the packaging software we use, can't be redistributed under its license terms.

We may consider allowing users to build production version if user acquires their own install4j license and software, but so far this is not in the plan.

What kind of customization do you have in mind?

We'd at least like to change the logos/icons and the splash screen/logon page. If possible, also the application title/name to our company name.
