Our mail server requires TLS from off-campus, but doesn't support SSL on port 465. It requires TLS on port 25.
Can I configure Zimbra Desktop to do SMTP TLS over port 25?
Thanks,
Mike

You should be able to. Have you tried? If it doesn't work, please let us know and we'll help you debug. Thanks!
Has there been any progress on this issue? I am demoíng the Zimbra Desktop client for possible use in our company. Whereas Thunderbird can happily connect via TLS on ports 143 (incoming) & 25 (SMTP), ZDC won do it. Ie tried every variant I could think of - 993/587, SSL on/off, etc.
You can see what progress there's been as the o/p hasn't bothered to respond since March of this year.
It's somewhat difficult to answer your question when you've not provided too much detail. Which server have you tried connecting to, Zimbra, Exchange or some other mail server? What errors do you see in the Desktop (or server) logs when you try a connection? What happens when you try to connect? Just for the record, I have my Zimbra server set for TLS only authentication and have no problem connecting with the Desktop on port 443 & SSL set. Please provide a more complete description of what you've tried and what response/errors you get and which version of Desktop you're using.
Regards
Bill
If you have tried and failed, we need zdesktop.out and zdesktop.log from <install>/log. Thanks!
Hi, sorry for the lack of info.
- Connecting to qmail server
- Using zdesktop_0_91_build_1344_linux_i686 on an Ubuntu Hardy & on an Ubuntu Intrepid x64 machine.
- Error always = "Service error. Please check your server settings; verify your email address, password or client access permissions (if required)." aftr a long "processing" message (1 minute).
I can connect without SSL set on 143 incoming/25 SMTP, but that's not good. Hope I've provided enough info to begin troubleshooting, Phoenix.
could you provide zdesktop.log and zdesktop.out under <install>/log right after a fresh failure?
Here you are, in zip format. On startup, I was able to connect using 143/587 unencrypted, then switched to 143/587 using SSL.
TIA,
Bruce

i did, Phoenix, and received "Service error. Please check your server settings; verify your email address, password or client access permissions (if required)." Attached is the log after attempting to change ports from 143/587 to 993/587, which is the only way it wants to connect.
