can i transfer all my outlook 2003 mail and contact to zimbra desktop

i just installed zimbra desktop and set it up for my gmail.

Is there a way to transfer my contact and email from my outlook 2003 into zimbra so I can migrate to zimbra.

any help is much appreciated

You are in luck. There is a tool designed for those in your position. It is a .pst (Outlook Data File) importer. You can find it in the downloads section of your Admin console, which, if installed to the default port, can be found at https://yourservername.com:7071 (don't forget the https!). Anyway, you can also download it directly (assuming you are using 5.0.2) at:

https://yourservername.com:7071/zimb....2_GA_1967.exe

can this be done with a zdb? or do I have to export first?

All I've tried is to use .pst's. I suppose there's no harm in trying. If it doesn't work, just export first.

I have a question related to your discussion, When I will convert my outlook mails to zimbra using conversion tool if I will use these mails in my ZIMBRA desktop or have to put on ZIMBRA server?

You will be able to use both. Your email will be in a server mailbox after conversion. If you also install Zimbra Desktop and sync with that mailbox, your email will also be accessible from Zimbra Desktop.
