Default 0.51 Initial Feedback

0.51 is working on completing its initial sync (about 1.1 GB), so I thought I'd post what I've seen so far vs. 0.38.

1. Java with 0.51 uses about 12% of CPU instead of the 99.5% of CPU 0.38 used.

2. I had to stop and restart 0.38 several times a day, and several times to complete the initial sync. Although 0.51 has yet to complete the initial sync, 0.38 had had to be stopped and restarted several times by this point during the initial sync.

3. I have some big (10MB+ attachments). 0.51's log frequently reports the following when syncing an email with a large attachment:
2007-07-28 13:12:48,203 WARN [Timer-Offline-Main] [] HttpMethodBase - Going to buffer response body of large or unknown size. Using getResponseBodyAsStream instead is recommended.

4. Thanks for adding the Calendar!

As I see more things, I'll post.

All the best,
Mark

Your not alone...also running nicely for a while...noticed a bunch of stuff wasn't syncing...stopped/started the zdesktop process (even rebooted)
Running on Win Vista - Firefox 2.0.0.5 (or IE 7.0.6)
Browser string: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1.5) Gecko/20070713 Firefox/2.0.0.5
(Even though I know JRE comes bundled-my local version is JDK6U2/JRE6U2)

Config pages work fine, I can change/reset/delete account...'launch' and I get (dead the same-minus my id string):

Quote:

Was this a fresh install? 0.51 requires that no prior installation exists. If there's any existing installation, it must be uninstalled first and the directory must be completely deleted.

If this is a brand new installation, then it's a serious bug.

Please first confirm whether you have completely wiped out the previous installation. If so, then please file a bug. Thanks!

(don't see 'str.split not a function' error either - bug 18480)

OK, sounds like we have a bug here. We'll investigate. Thanks!

Thanks-
At one time my browsers showed me the error line, but not giving it now-sry I'll keep hunting.
Don't remember it being 2604 or line 382 of the keymap -they don't ring a bell
Though I do have 7 custom keys tied to tagging; If I remove them, should I do a fresh install (and long initial sync) for you? or will it try to solve it on sync?

Made into a bug for you: Bug 18955 - system failure: fetching folder data for mailbox

Clean for us as well. I did have .38 installed, but uninstalled it with the installer and then wiped out the directories in my home.

Anything else that should have been deleted?

Thanks,
Mark

A bug has been filed for this blocking issue:

Bug 18987 - zdesktop 0.51 blocking issue

We already know what the cause is. It's trivial to resolve, but we are looking for a way to provide a patch without requiring reinstalling/resync is possible. Thanks!
