ical - Syncs fine on changes made on Zimbra in the cloud (or client).

ical - Does not sync changes made in ical.

I have deleted all ical directories/preferences etc in case the issue was with ical.

Currently I am only using the zimbra mac client as ical cannot be relied upon.

The reason I want to use ical is that

1. It renders the appointments such that they are all visible which is not the case when viewing multiple calendars in Zimbra web/client.
2. Has a time line

I'm running Running Leopard 10.5.8 - Will snow Leopard cure the issue??

Any one else having a similar issue?

Upgrade from ZCS5 to 6 oddness in CalDAV iPhone sync

Hi all,

I just upgraded my ZCS to Release 6.0.2_GA_1912. After this I've noticed that I no longer get my calendar entries on my iPhone via CalDAV. Oddly enough the phone doesn't give any errors and seems to connect fine. I can create events on the phone and they show in Zimbra but not the other way around. I even noticed that when I changed the "color" of my calendar that it correctly changed on the phone as well so I know there is communication happening, but I must be missing something.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

How can I clear the CalDav queue?

Folks:
Some time back, I managed to do something that resulted in iCal throwing CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation errors every time it starts (the problem, I think, was either rights confusion or a lack of support for writing to shared Zimbra calendars under some circumstances, but that's not what I'm trying to solve).

The laptop on which the original sin was committed continues to throw a slew of these errors every time I start iCal -- iCal on other machines I use is fine, so it's not a Zimbra problem. Nothing, including changing the shared accounts and reinstalling iCal, has stopped this. I am guessing that the iCal queue persists on the machine in file form somewhere and persists regardless of changes in the accounts or reinstallation of iCal. Anybody got any idea where? It's a minor irritation, but I have to go through it once or twice a day.

The caldav debugger addins for iCal don't seem to do anything useful, but I could well be wrong about that.

All help appreciated.

I'm not entirely sure WHEN this started... it could have been when I upgraded to 6.0.1, or it could have been when I moved to Snow Leopard, or it could have just randomly stopped working at some point based on some other variable. But now, whenever I try to sync my calendar in iCal, I get:

Image: http://www.megacity.org/scrap/iCalError.jpg

Now, I've tried going to that URL, providing my credentials, and I get what appears to be valid data.

Anyone have any ideas on what I might be doing wrong? (I've since upgraded to 6.0.2, just in case that was the problem)

Server: 5.0.19
OSX: 10.5.8

I tried finding relevant items in the bug tracker but failed.

Scenario:

*User A has shared several calendars with User B, some read only some manager level. Everything is fine from webclient.
*User A sets up caldav to their account and uses iCal to add tasks on the calendar. User A has no particular interest in User B seeing those tasks, but wants the events connected to the various calendars.
*User B sets up caldav to their account on server. The delegated calendars come across fine, including all the appointments.
*During a subsequent automatic refresh, User B gets errors that they do not have permission to see the tasks in the shared calendars and is given choice of going offline or 'reverting to server'. User B has to select go offline to not get further messages.

I don't expect our site to upgrade the server to 6.X until next May although maybe this winter break. Does anyone have any suggestions? Best work around so far is subscribe to the individual calendars as read only using the ics links, iCal gives the option of ignoring the todos.

iSync - addressbook problems

Hi,

I'm trying to get the sync with addressbook to work. I have approx 10k contacts in various groups. I realised pretty quickly that syncing them all (not all are related to my current job) is not useful and downright unhandleable in the webclient (cannot mass select etc).

So instead I'm trying to set up a partial sync. Selected only a shared folder with colleagues where we will build up a new contacts database that I would like to have a 2-way sync with.

However try as I might (even after a clean reinstall of isync) the tool attempts to sync all 10k contacts to my personal contacts folder; and hogs all the cpu/lots of memory. And then I have not even addressed the problem of addressbook groups which the initial full sync just turned into distribution lists in the zumbra contacts (unusable again)...

Does anybody face the same issues or have any tips for a workaround? We're using 5.0.19 and os x 10.5.5.

Cheers, Florian

Mac Address Book groups cause duplicate Contacts

Hi all,

some of our users make use of Mac Address books feature to create Address Book Groups. If you create entries in a Address book group (on the mac) each sync to the zimbra server causes the entries in the address book group to be duplicated on the server side.

If you have a couple of users in one address book group and wait for 1 day, you end up with ~10.000 identical address book entries. I have tried with isync connector 5.0.18, 5.0.19 and 6.0.2 (Server Version is 5.0.18). All with the same result.

How to reproduce:
On the Mac, create an address book group
create a new entry in that group
create a second entry in that group
sync to server
sync to server again

you will find the second entry to appear twice on the server (check in the Zimbra Webinterface).

Is there a known workaround? Can somebody confirm this behavior?

Regards
Thomas

Delegation workaround for iCal 3 (OS X 10.5)

Hi forum,

We upgraded to 6.0.2 this weekend, and on top of the "family mailboxes" bug (http://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=37217), we are having some issues on our 10.5 based Macs. More specifically iCal 3.

Without "Enable delegation for Apple iCal CalDAV client" checked, I receive the following error in iCal:

"The calendar https://mail.mydomain.dk/principals/users/me@mydomain.dk/ was not found on the server. Make sure the URL is correct."

Happenes on both 10.5 and 10.6.

On 10.6:
When "Enable delegation for Apple iCal CalDAV client" is enabled, I get to see my delegates under Accounts -> Delegation. I can check the calendars I want to see. All good.

On 10.5:
When "Enable delegation for Apple iCal CalDAV client" is enabled, I do not see any delegates under Accounts -> Delegation. That means that I can only see my own calendar, which is pretty critical to us. According to Bug 21489 – CalDAV: Add support for calendar delegation (http://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=21489#c61) the bug has only been fixed for iCal 4.0, but will not be fixed for 3.x according to Comment #51.

Is there any workaround for iCal 3 or is the only way of solving the problem upgrading to Snow Leopard?

Kind regards,
Preben
