Default How to use Zimbra from within Evolution

Hi,

can anyone explain to me in a few steps what needs to be done to use Zimbra as calendar server for Evolution?

The title of this forum is 'Evolution Connector' but is there really a separate connector for Evolution? I didn't come across one.

I have searched the archives and found some hints on how to interconnect Evolution with Zimbra, but they didn't help. I tried CalDav with url webcal://my.zimbraserver.name/service/ical/cal.ics + a username, and that seemed to work, as I was prompted for the password. After providing my password, nothing happened. I didn't see my appointments show up in Evolution, and when I added a meeting in Evolution, I got a 'Unable to open the calender <name>' error message.

Something is still wrong, but what?

Thanks a lot!

I'm not sure I understand the way it works. Is the Evolution connector something that has to be installed on each and every Evolution client, or is it something that must be installed on the Zimbra server side? IMHO the latter would be more elegant and less resource intensive, as it has to be installed only once.

How does one go about getting the souirce code from svn. I've never used svn. I am trying this:

svn co http://zimbra.svn.sourceforge.net/vi...mbraEvolution/

but when I do I get this:

svn: PROPFIND request failed on '/viewvc/zimbra/trunk/ZimbraEvolution'
svn: PROPFIND of '/viewvc/zimbra/trunk/ZimbraEvolution': 301 Moved (https://zimbra.svn.sourceforge.net)

EDIT:

And the answer is:
svn co http://zimbra.svn.sourceforge.net/sv...imbraEvolution

Default Subversion checkout

I too am having the same problems when trying to checkout the sourcecode from the svn repository:

$ svn checkout SourceForge.net Repository - [zimbra] Index of /trunk/ZimbraEvolution
svn: PROPFIND request failed on '/viewvc/zimbra/trunk/ZimbraEvolution'
svn: PROPFIND of '/viewvc/zimbra/trunk/ZimbraEvolution': 301 Moved (SourceForge.net Repository - [zimbra] Index of /)
$

Am I doing something wrong with subversion or is there a permission error problem? Has anyone found a solution to this problem and failing this is there an archive somewhere I can download the source?

Many thanks.

Default 'svn checkout' gives me an error about "301 Moved Permanently"

After googling the error message I found the following likely cause.

subversion: Subversion FAQ

Has anyone addressed this issue?

Thumbs down Back on topic...

What does one have to do to get this to work properly? Specifically my problems are:
- From within Evolution, another calendar on the Zimbra server is available. Events on the server are brought down to evolution just fine, but entering events into Evolution directly and selecting the server calendar folder causes it to crash.
- Similarly, trying to copy/move events from Evolution's folder to the server's causes it to crash.
- Trying to copy/move contacts from Evolution to server usually results in a crash

Finally, is there something specific that needs to be configured for the two calendars and two contacts to remain in sync automatically? Does calendar publishing need to be configured? If so, then what's the point of having the plugin?

I assume if I just have Evolution add contact/calendar info into the server's folders that all will be fine, but adding things to the server from Evolution usually winds up with a crash.

Thoughts? I downloaded the current SVN this morning and compiled (previously used the downloadable rpm). Running FC6 and Evolution 2.8.3.

Thanks!

John
