Already discussed in the forums and I'm afraid you're wrong on that, the zimlets are available in the Gallery and will be Community supported (they never were officially supported by Zimbra).

Already discussed in the forums, there will be an alternative to ZD.

You mean that the "Major New feature Enhancements for 8.0" from pages 2-9 in the Release Notes don't constitute any information about some of the changes you will see in this version?

You really need to search the forums or check some of the bug repost that are going into ZCS 8.

    Hello Bill

I am disappointed that you took me seriously, if the post was serious it was not opened into /etc, really
Second, I forget to mention IM IM was an interesting tool to allow company workers chatting in an enterprise environment where there is a proxy that deny every social-network, skype, msn etc etc b/c ppl should work and work and work
I read that IM will be out, but for sure searching the forums there wil be some alternatives.

Speaking seriously, instead, let me say that after a first very quick outlook to changelog you (me!) are (am) very impressed by the things that will be out more than by the new features that were added.
Then, re-reading it an searching forum for alternatives to coming out items, you can easly realize that it was a false sensation.

I don't take anything seriously, my comments were for anyone reading this thread that might have thought you were being serious - there's plenty of people that (unfortunately) don't read the Release Notes.

    Hello Bill,

loosing the family account feature will get administrators (like me) in trouble!
Our CEO, CIO and others do have 2 or more Zimbra accounts. They need to get all their accounts into a single client. So I preferred the webclient with family account feature so far. Of course I could distribute ZD but it's much slower than the web client and I can't control them like I do with web clients.
So do you have an answer for a poor administrator to keep Zimbra going? For these people it's a key feature. They'll easily drop our freshly built Zimbra installation and will go for another product...

    Regards

    Stefan

I'm afraid I'n not privy to the decisions on what feature changes are in ZCS. The only thing I can suggest is that you raise the issue with Zimbra Support. The most (possibly) useful bug reports on the subject might be these:

    Bug 55654 – Family Mailbox support in 7.0 & 8.0
Bug 76088 – Document upgrade/migration strategies for customers heavily relying on (now EOL) family mailboxes feature

You might get some hint of what's in store for changes/migration to any upcoming replacement feature.

[EDIT]Sorry, I forgot to ask if you looked at P9 of the Release Notes? Does the "delegate authority" for an account not do what you want?

    Bill,

    thank you for your sympathy.
The bug reports are very useful to get addressed my issue. And the main thing I learnt is I'm not alone!
I found the following in the release notes of 7.1: "Family Mailbox feature is not supported in ZCS 7.X and will be removed inthe next major release of ZCS. We plan to provide a capability to enablemulti-account support in ZWC as a replacement for the Family Mailboxfeature."
So where is it now? It's replaced by what? Does a replacement mean it's just gone? Just tough luck?

I'm not sure but in my opinion the delegate authority thing is as same as within outlook/exchange. A second user gets the right to send mails for the first user. Nothing else. Am I right?
Thank you again for your help so far.

    Regards
    Stefan
