Question iPhone 3GS

is it worth the upgrade from 3G for the extra memory and performance?

From a couple of friends who did the upgrade, yes.

For those in the market for a new smartphone, I tell them that the extra $100 of the 16GB 3GS is well worth the expense over the base 3G.

For existing owners of the 3G, I ask them how badly is performance affecting them, or do they need the extra navigation features or video camera. If they have to pay extra because existing phone is still in contract they generally say 'not at this time' when all is said and done.

The speed is noticeable though.

For me the coating on the touchscreen and the macro focus mode in the camera are worth the extra $$ alone. I can't even use my old iPhone any more not just because it feels painfully slow compared to the new one, but my fingers don't glide across the screen as easily as on the GS.

I use the camera a lot to snap pictures of serial numbers on equipment quite a bit thanks to the new macro mode - I can't tell you how handy that is!

So yeah, pay the extra 100$, it's well worth it.

Don't forget the useful portable heater feature!
