Google is pretty fast-moving as company cultures go, with new products rolled out on a regular basis. And yet Google's popular Gmail email service is only just now getting around to providing offline access, as PC World reports, a feature that open-source Zimbra has had for nearly two years.

Yah too bad they'll get the credit for inventing it.
Zimbra: First public preview version August 2005, first production release was January 2006 (stealth/black skunkworks under the name Liquid Systems since 2003).
Gmail: Launched April 2004 (Google a company since 1997, hashed around in 1995).
Gmail launched a year before we first introduced the world to a truly great AJAX collaboration experience, and considering they had 10+ years head start to get organized - well you be the judge of just how fast we swept the communication world off it's feet
