I can't imagine why, I get notifications from the forum when there's an update to a thread. Perhaps some feedback in the forums to see if there's any problems might be appropriate and you could always jump on irc.freenode.net , channel: #openfiler to ask what's happening.

Did you try Open-E ?

They have a free version (limited to 2TB and missing some features from the paying version: bonding, FC HBA, RAID card support, failover, etc) that can be used in SOHO environment.

Free Data Storage Software V6 Lite (DSS V6 Lite)

No not yet as need to buy my final server first I just wonder how it would stack in comparison with OpenFiler as the feature set seems very similar. I would presume OF has NIC bonding as standard.

I don't know for OF (I have not looked at it for quite a long time).

Good enough for my use (hosting LAMP VM with XenServer) 8)

I have not benched it and the hardrives currently in the Open-E server are not that fast (SATA2 7200 rpm).

Before the end of the year, I should setup a new server with NearLine disks (or even better), I'll try to bench it.

It's been confirmed that the mailing lists are inactive, I've suggested the web site be modified to reflect that.

For what it's worth we use openfiler internally to do cluster functionality tests. It works fairly well to test functionality but I've seen a number of file system corruptions while doing failover testing in the last couple of years. Given this I'm not sure I would personally use it for a production deployment, at least in a ZCS clustered configuration.
