I really hope something happens such that Zimbra (code, coders, et. al) are kept out of the clutches of Microsoft.

"Accordingly, your apparent plan to pursue such an arrangement in the event of a proxy contest or exchange offer leads me to the firm decision not to pursue such a path. Instead, I hereby formally withdraw Microsoft's proposal to acquire Yahoo!".

"Despite our best efforts, including raising our bid by roughly $5 billion, Yahoo! has not moved toward accepting our offer. After careful consideration, we believe the economics demanded by Yahoo! do not make sense for us, and it is in the best interests of Microsoft stockholders, employees and other stakeholders to withdraw our proposal," said Ballmer

| | | I see buzz that "Microsoft will walk away" from Yahoo. which presumably means no proxy fight, no acquisition... just back to being pseudo-competitors.
If this is the legit story, then, congrats to the board and everyone at Yahoo! on standing up to a big fat bully, on principle, and sticking to your guns despite all the back-seat driving from speculators & stakeholders.
I'm not as militantly anti-MS as some here, apparently, but I, for one, am quite confident Y! is doing the right thing by its stock-holders, no matter how many sue.
In short: Yay! maybe!?...

I just sent mail to my IT team here in Madison and now my VP won't be as worried about deploying a mail solution that has the potential to be stepped out by M$.
