POP account - User name and password error.

Hello,

I have been trying to create a pop account in zimbra, but it always gives me an error .

" User account authentication failed. Please check username and password. "

i have checked and i am entering the correct ids and password ( its working fine with mozilla thunderbird).

Please check and provide me with the solution, as I love zimbra and want to use it. I have been able to create a yahoo account successfully, but not my Pop account.

You don't say which version of Zimbra Desktop you're using but if it's ZD 1.x the download and try the ZD 2 Beta 4 (details in the ZD forums announcement and the Zimbra blog).

I Installed the beta version (ZD 2 Beta 4) of zimbra, from the link you gave to me. But now i am getting a different error message.

The error is :

service.FAILURE: system failure: SMTP connect failure

i checked in forum for this error, and found that many other people also got this error previously, but that thread was not resolved by anyone.

Please check and let me know.

Are Your password simple (like 123) or contains special characters ?

Sorry for late reply. I didnt have interent access for two days

I am still getting the error. I checked it by disabeling my firewall in the pc and checked with my hosting account and they told me that there is no firewall issue.

My Email password is simple. No numbers, only English letters.

Are Your email provider support cleartext ?
Does other desktop email clients work fine with same connection settings ?

Dear ZD experts,

I've faced with similar issue when was configuring an POP account the mail server. After all the nevessary entries were filled in (POP and SMTP credentials, respective details like name, reply adress etc.) the client was not able to connect to server. Having looked over the installation log, it seemed suspiciously that the ZD client was trying to connect to the server using TLS, meanwhile both the server and the account were configured to use standard POP(110)-SNTP(25) bundle w/o TLS usage.
Other mail clients work w/o issues with the same settings.

Configuration: WinXPsp3 (Russian), ZD 1.0.4 build 1833, ZD log is attached.

Please give a clue where to dig.
