Cannot set signature in IMAP account

I am using ZDesktop 2.0.0.10479 on XP SP3 and I cant create a signature on an IMAP account: when I try to apply the signature to the persona there is a 'Test settings' dialogue box saying Status Testing... and it just stays there. Also the signature is not persisted across sessions.
