Default Zimbra Desktop 2.0 Beta 1 Sync Failure

Hello Everyone:

I am using Zimbra Desktop 2.0 Beta 1 on Windows XP Pro. We use the BandyGreen Managed Hosting service which I believe runs on RHEL and they should be running the most current version. When I try to syncronize my account, I get the following error:

It was my understanding that this issue would be resolved in Zimbra Desktop 2.0. I have absolutely no problem to access and use my account from the Web AJAX interface on any browser or OS platform. I would, however, very much like to be able to use the new Zimbra Desktop 2.0 as it seems very nice.

Failure communicating with remote server. Please try again later.

We are have the same symptoms. We rebuilt our server after a crash with all the RHEL updates and a fresh ZCS install. Manually key *all* the accounts back into the new system. A new ZD installation will do fine. However, an existiing ZD is have problems ranging from non functioning Shared Folders, No connection, losing connection, and not even trying to sync.

Hello Robert:

Thank you for the reply. What you describe might be a very cumbersome process (I am not an IT professional), and since we are using a managed hosting service from BandyGreen and it seems that they do not seem to want to do this.

I would think that a rugged alternate to MS Exchange/Outlook should support using the Zimbra Desktop in cases where accounts had to be restored from backup. You are correct, this is exactly what happened in our case as well. I do not think that forcing a manual restore of everything is a rugged solution to this situation, particularly not when there are very many accounts that are effected.

Lastly, it was my understanding from some previous off-forum correspondence with Zimbra engineers that that accounts that were restored from backup would be supported with Zimbra Desktop 2.0

Regards,

Thomas
