Default Latest update causes "Google address book synchronization failed"

I have four google apps email addresses which I access via zimbra desktop. Since the update a couple of days ago the three 'simpler' accounts have been spewing error messages like the one below at every synch attempt. The one account that does not have error is the one I use the most. It has contact groups, and lots of contacts. I don't think the other gmail accounts have any contacts at all.

Product name: Zimbra Desktop
Product version: 1.0
Build ID: 1593
Release type: R
OS Platform: Windows XP x86 5.1
Time of event: 2009-06-02 08:37:37
Error type: service.FAILURE
Item ID: 7
Error summary: Google address book synchronization failed

Default No Contacts

This error seems to be due to not having any contacts on your Gmail account. Once I created a few contacts on Gmail and then reset the account in Zimbra the errors went away.

If this really is the cause then someone ought to file a bug report in bugzilla.

Thanks for the description, I was able to track down the problem. I also filed a bug: Bug 38817 – Google contact sync failure if no contacts exist.

I have several google apps gmail accounts that still error out with this on every contact with the server. The gmail accounts do have some contacts - but the contacts never show up in zd. The contact I entered into this account in zd never appears in gmail. I have some other google apps gmail accounts for the same domain that don't 'grow' these errors.

Progress on this bug seems kind of slow - you posted that a fix was coming, but when?

As an aside, it would be helpful if it was simple to find out what version of zd one has. I have been able to locate it once or twice after a long hunt, but ought it not be really easy to find? Right now I can't recall where that info is hidden away.
