Default Moving emails caused loss of email on Ymail

Using Zimbra Desktop i moved about 3000 emails into a folder and renamed that folder. About 1000 of those emails synced with Ymail and then I started getting the error reports.

I think it may have caused a probem when I renamed the folder during the sync. That would explain why only 1000 copied synced and the last 2000 did not.

I still have the extra 2000 emails in Zimbra Desktop, is there a way to get these back onto Ymail?

Below is a copy of the error report.

Hi guangd2000,

Yes I have conversation view on. However the emails that were lost on the Yahoo Servers after moving emails in Zimbra. They are still missing and I constantly get error messages even after upgrading.

How can I stop the error messages?

How can I get my emails back onto the yahoo servers?

Cheers

Hi,

I found there was a bug logged in bugzilla last year and a few forum discussion.

Bug 31450 (However access is restricted on this bug)

Was this ever resolved?

Bug 31450 was resolved, but this may be a different issue related to renaming the folder while messages were being synced.

Assuming the messages were synced from the Yahoo server to begin with you should still be able to see them in Yahoo's web client. If the messages are still there then you should be able to reset the ZD account and try moving the rest of the messages again.

Hi Dac,

Yes the messages were synced from the Yahoo Server.

No the messages are missing altogether on the Yahoo web client. But they are still in Zimbra Desktop.

I get thousands of error message when I open Zimbra Desktop and the it stops syncing with a communication failure.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Cheers
Matt

Matt/Dac, any development on this?

following from my previous comments, the issue seems to have developed even worse --i started losing emails on YMAIL web client too.

what i did to rectify this was to import from my past exported backup file using the Replace function to eliminate any duplicates. This seems to have worked and i got back those lost emails. However, ZD dont seem to sync with YMAIL web client any more. And all my imported changes and other mails are not getting updated on ymail.

Although i still get inbox items synced and a number of other folders, the majority of my folders are disabled from being synced to YMAIL as the amount of error messages has gone into thousands.

i am seriously thinking of ditching zimbra or yahoo for something else as the amount of time i have spent on sorting various glitches makes the whole experience unworthy.

zimbra dont seem to issue any hotfix either and we have to wait for months to get a version upgrade. i know, Dac, you and your colleages must be working extremely hard to sort out various bugs but i think you guys may be seriously under-resourced and i suspect Zimbra may soon start losing users...
