Zimbra Desktop won't resolve hostnames

Added a gmail account no problem. Having issues adding other email accounts either pop or imap both are failing every add. I have all the settings correct and I am unable to add. I have read the preceding thread and believe it may be this same issue. If I am using SSL it gives me an ssl error if I am not it gives me a service.FAILURE: system failure: SMTP connect failure

I am not connecting to a Zimbra Server.
