Is this on Windows or Mac?

Sounds like you have an incomplete installation. Have you tried re-running the installer?

I have the same problem. It arose when a new installation clearly failed to remove the previous one. It's stuck in the control panel "add/remove" programmes and when I click to remove, it tries to install but never gets started.
I've completely removed the old installation and re-installed but still get the same error - I'll try atacking the registry next!
It's a bit of a killer, really, particularly since every user has to have their own installation, even with Linux.
Mulberry's not much better and has calendar sync and alarm issues so that's not a way out for me. (When I sync the calendar it opens thousands (literally) of alarm notifications.)

I see the same message after installing Zimbra Desktop 2.0 beta 1 (built 10343) over Zimbra Desktop 1.0.3 (built 1691) on Vista.

v1.0 still works fine, 2.0 app runs (sits in the tray)but only displays this message in the whole window, nothing else.

it's a known bug of zd 2.0

there is an easy workaround:

1) shutdown zd service on 1.0 first (windows: systray icon->Shutdown Service; mac: right-click dock icon->Shutdown Service; linux: <installation dir>/zdesktop stop)

2) launch zd 2.0

you can still run 1.0 and 2.0 at the same time, but it's not recommended. the combined memory usage of 1.0 and 2.0 can be quite high for most systems.

I had this same problem. If you navigate to version one's folders in the app data folder, you'll see a file labeled simply "uninstall." Running that file worked for when uninstalling 1.0 so I could install the latest version/build of 2.0 Now, if only the program would actually sync my Yahoo mail without "authentication" and "remote connection" errors.
