last name changes in the from field in the inbox

When zimbra consolidates multiple emails from one person, the name in the from field changes. For example if I received an email from smith, john and i've made replies to the original email then the name changes to River, john.
River being my first name. If I click on the expand button, then all the emails show the correct name. It seems like the software doesn't correct display the name in the from field when it is in collapsed mode. Is there a fix for this or a setting that can be changed?

When it's a conversation, the collapsed mode will display some names. It's by design.

That part isn't a good design. Can that be altered? The conversation should display the orginal sender. What need would there be to have the software combine the names? Doesn't make since to me.

It provides an at a glance view of who's in the convo when collapsed - even with 4 people in it:

You'll notice that the original sender and last sender should almost always be included to keep you aware:

We probably went with first names as they're generally shorter. There are commas in between to make it easier to identify.:

Sans switching to message view instead, I'm unaware of an easy way to disable that - though convos are easily expanded. If you think it deserves a setting feel free to file an RFE in bugzilla.
