zdesktop is designed to be installed and run by regular user accounts on UNIX/MacOS platform - it can't be run as root.

Yes I know that, I changed my user permissions, and then installed zimbra desktop. and it just did not work.
I made a reboot and it worked. Go figure !! But I have now what I want. A damn good email client that rivals with Oracle OCS

I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times with no resolution. The error indicated that the desktop server cannot be started. If I manually attempt a restart from XP services, I receive the error "could not start the Yahoo! Zimbra desktop service on local computer". Installation log is attached.

you have the identical zdesktop.exe binary as the one i am running on xp sp2...somehow your sp3 thinks it's invalid - very weird..
