Hi,
this is the error that shows up:

How can I solve this? I'm using Zimbra desktop 0.90 build 1278 against a Zimbra server as stated in my profile.

Could you find the corresponding error in <install>/log/mailbox.log? That will give us more information.

By the way, I can empty trash from the web client without any error.

There's no error in the log you included. Are you sure this is the section from the time when you saw the error?
I open up zimbra desktop this morning and I have a new daily log file, I attach it. There are 4 accounts registered, one is failing on pop3 authentication but is not the zimbra one (luca@pmiservice.biz).

I don't see the issue you mentioned from the log. Are you sure this log covers the exact time period when you saw the error pop-up?
But I do see you have POP issue with your pop account. We'll look into that.
