ERROR: java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection abort: recv failed

I am getting the following error when I tried to create a pop account
java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection abort: recv failed

My mail server URLs is "mail.<my_domain>.com"
but it is served on the server the URL is
"<my_domain>.xyxyx.com"
could it be a problem.

I am also getting the same error - this is a ISP provided POP3 email address, with the user name and the email address being different. This works fine from outlook.
