Reading Pane option

I would like to see an option in the user options (as well as global option setting) that for the reading pane so that it could be set to use it by default or not. I for one like my current outlook style where it shows the first couple of lines of unread messages and I have to double click to open them. I also happen to like Zimbra in 'by message' mode but I have to turn off the reading pane each time I login.

I'll file an RFE to make the reading pane option sticky or have a pref to set the startup default.
