Default SASL Auth not working

I did not have this issue with M1, now with M2 I am receiving authentication failures when attempting to send mail with sasl authentication.

i've tried it with and without the -r in the saslauthd command in zmsaslauthctl; stopping and starting that service each time.

yeah.

that was it. the install revereted from tls mixed to tls http

zmtlsctl mixed
tomcat stop
tomcat start

works.
