Default mailbox in zimbra

Hi,

I'm running zimbra 4.5 on centos, Now I want to shift the mailboxes maintained in the system to another system running zimbra 4.5 on centos ( you can say migration from zimbra to zimbra). Is it possible to take the backup of the zimbra database from mysql and restore it on the other system ?

Please help

Default Can you just copy over /opt/zimbra?

You need to migrate all the user data -- message bodies, indexes, and databases. I'm not an expert on this, but I'd guess that since it's the same OS and same Zimbra revision, the easiest way is probably to just shut down the old system and rsync /opt/zimbra over to the new box...

That will work until you try and upgrade it. (Last time I tried, the zimbra install bailed because the RPM database was out of sync).
  • Install the same version of Zimbra on the new box as on the old box.
  • Rsync over the entire directory, or the stores, sql, and ldap directories if you can't copy the whole thing over.
  • Swap IP addresses on the box.
