I'm not sure the Open Source aspect of the software ranks that highly on their priority list ... (!)

I've been using Zimbra for many (many) years, and in instances when I've had a problem with a commercial version support has been excellent, couldn't fault it.
Reporting bugs in OS version however is a rather different experience (!)

Many apologies for the inconvienence this might be causing, but it's just not been as simple as copying files from one datacenter to another. I'm literally right now filling out some cost justification paperwork to purchase the new storage trays that were not accounted for to host the repositories in our own Zimbra datacenter. Remember the old datacenter didn't belong to us and much of the equipment didn't either. Of course it will get approved, but I can't just run to my local computer store and pick up some USB drives to put this stuff on. :P

    Thanks for the update!

Why not post the sourcecode to GitHub? It would additionally be a community acceptance boost!

    Kind regards

Our source with all the necessary 3rd party components needed to build ZCS exceeds the repository size allowed by git/github. Otherwise we would! We are actually going to use Git Fusion in front of Perforce to do it.

You're wrong! Do you actually know the Zimbra community mirror I've set up? It's a mirror of the old Perforce main branch! i talked to the guys at github prior setting that up. Though their website states a 2GB maximum, they can easily expand it at no cost.

Also, I think, Github would be proud to be the main hoster for the official Zimbra sources!

Please just have a chat with them!

Very familiar with the mirror. We talked to the guys at GitHub. With all the historical branches we need to maintain, they said they could not do it. So not sure that I'm wrong

    Oh. Sorry then.

Do you really NEED all the old stuff? Why not start with the last supported version and then playback the changes from there?

    Hi,

    Just to clarify:

Internally, Zimbra will continue to use Perforce for its RCS. Externally, we are using Git Fusion to provide our source to the community. This will be a substantial improvement over our previous public perforce repository for a number of reasons:

    a) No need to understand perforce
    b) No need to always download the entire repository to get the latest code (just a simple git pull will suffice after the initial git clone)
    c) Full change log data:
    Code:
    public@zre-ldap001:~/git/ironmaiden-foss$ git log .

Then it would really be okay to loose some very old commits. You can also leave out all the branches you have in perforce. Simply tag a release. That should reduce the needed size for the repository a lot.

    Hi ploeger,

That's not how git fusion works on top of Perforce. There is one git repo per Zimbra release, as well as one git repo per development branch (HELIX, IRONMAIDEN, etc). I.e., the git behavior has to map to the perforce layout.

    Regards,
