Do you plan to use Lucene 2 in near future

Just wonder, do you plan to move to Lucene 2.x in near future?

If yes, when?

We do plan to move to Lucene 2 at some point in the future. The only holdup with this has been the testing requirements: since it is a 1-way upgrade (you can't go back once your indexes have been written to with a 2.x build) we need to be extremely careful that everything works.

In terms of timeframe: we don't really have a firm schedule for this right now. So far there hasn't been a reason why we absolutely need this at a particular time and so it has tended to fall off the list of TODOs when it comes down to scheduling out each release. Do you have a particular reason why you ask about it, or is it just a general curiosity?

Hi Tim

It makes full sense for me.

I was just evaluating plugging Alfresco repository as Email/Document store. Latest version of repo uses lucene 2.0, so I made quick upgrade of zimbra server, but probably broke couple of things. Thats where interest come from.

I would be happy to discuss this initiative more, but it is probably for another thread.
